Tips from locals
A bit further afield, but worth a visit if you are prepared to travel and have the time. Open Friday-Monday for pizzas and platters – often gets booked out.
Lazy Ballerina is the work of the Hook family, James Hook, his wife Miriam Bourne and his parents Paul and Patricia Hook. Together they make and sell a shifting kaleidoscope of limited edition wines, and have light food and regional produce from their friends, all the while hosting music and other special events. If you have never been to visit their cellar door what are you waiting for? The Hook’s live amongst lush gardens opposite the majestic Kuitpo Forest, near the great tourism locations McLaren Vale and Willunga, it makes a great day trip from Adelaide or weekend away. They are open for guests Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

Dogs are welcome at this family owned winery set in stunning gardens next door to Kuitpo forest. On cooler days they get the fire pits going. The pizzas are delicious!
