Built in the 16th century, this church is best known for its cemetery, where numerous poets and public figures are buried. The church is named after St. Davit Gareji, a Syrian priest who helped spread Christianity in Georgia in the 6th century and who lived in a small cave on the grounds where the church is located today. In 1829, Russian poet Alexander Griboyedov was buried next to the church, and after that it became quite a tradition for important people to find their final resting place in the area. It's a quiet and nice spot to watch Tbilisi from the height. Prices:Free Directions: You can take a funicular to the church, one-way is 1 GEL from 09:00-19:00.

The Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures is a necropolis in Tbilisi, Georgia, where some of the most prominent writers, artists, scholars, and national heroes of Georgia are buried. It is located in the churchyard around St David’s Church "Mamadaviti" on the slope of Mount Mtatsminda and was officially established in 1929. Atop the mountain is Mtatsminda Park, an amusement park owned by the municipality of Tbilisi.
