Tips from locals
Take the Sandbanks ferry to get to the Purbecks and Shell Bay beach, sand dunes and a stunning beach. Not much in the way of facilities so take supplies but you can walk further along to Knoll Beach where there is a cafe and car park.
Shell Bay beach is a stunning unspoiled white sand beach on the Studland Peninsula owned by the National Trust. Reached by a short ferry ride from Sandbanks. Dogs are allowed on lead from April to September & off lead the rest of the year.
