Tips from locals
Steep but (because of it?) breathtakingly beautiful, especially in spring. The trail closes often so please ask about the status before heading out.
22 miles north east from Mariposa downtown. Hite Cove Trail hiking offers spectacular early morning spring wildflower displays. The first 3/4 mile of the trail is private land. This moderate hike is 7.2 miles and ends at the remains of the old Hite Mine. Camping is allowed at Hite Cove, but campfire permits are required.
