Walk along the Charles River or have a picnic lunch. Take the kids or dogs out to play.
Great path to explore, usually filled with activities. Take note that you'll have to cross a bridge over a strip of highway.
Most beautiful public park in Boston. Paved paths for running, biking and walking. The Esplanade is the location for 4th of July fireworks and the Esplanade Hatch (just a concert venue on the Esplanade) has occasional summer concerts.
Wonderful walk along the Charles river where you will find many locals picnicking, biking, running, or just taking a stroll. Community boating along here offers the opportunity to take a sailing lesson and a variety of other water sports. Paddle boats, paddle boards and gondola rides are also often available. I believe you can also rent kayaks to explore the city from the water.
