Tips from locals
Great sunset spot! The bridge is currently closed for all vehicles. Take that opportunity to sit on the bench and watch a sunset.
The River at Hammersmith has on both North and South sides wonderful paths to walk, job or cycle along. North side goes past historic houses and pubs to enjoy a drink right by the River. the walks go on for miles all the way to Richmond,Kew Gardens and beyond.
Once you get past the terrible traffic roundabout that is Hammersmith Broadway and head over the beautiful Hammersmith Bridge turn immediately left on the other side of the bridge and down a few steps to the Thames Pathway. It's a lovely 30 minute walk along this magnificent river to Putney Bridge. It feels surprisingly rural for central London.
This is the ideal route for the more energetic runner or if you want a longer walk. Cross over Hammersmith Bridge then go down to the riverbank turn left 20 mins walk/jog to Barnes cross over Barnes Bridge then come back the other side.
