The Missouri State Penitentiary was a prison in Jefferson City, Missouri, that operated from 1836 to 2004. Check their website for tour tickets...perhaps a ghost tour anyone?
The Missouri State Penitentiary is a widely sought after attraction in Jefferson City! The penitentiary was in operation from 1836-2004 and there is a lot of history in this building. The worst of the worst criminals were imprisoned in this facility, and it was coined "the bloodiest 47 acres in America," due to the high number of assaults that occurred inside. Both historic and paranormal tours are available, but order your tickets ahead of time to ensure you're able to get in! Take a jacket with you in the spring and fall months, it is cold inside!
