Tips from locals
Let us organise your shuttle from Ketetahi Carpark to the start of the Tongariro Crossing. This is the easiest and most relaxed way of completing the Tongariro Crossing. Allow 1 hour from our property to drive, park and locate the shuttle bus. Departures are normally 6.30, 7.30 or 8.30 am to make the best of the day. You can walk at your own pace knowing that your car is waiting at the end, so need pressure of having to catch a bus at the end. We use Tongariro Expeditions as the shuttle service, so you can make your booking if you like.

Good hiking footwear and clothing required, half to full day walk, take food, drinks and extra clothing (high altitude)
Often described as New Zealand’s best one day alpine trek, this 19.4 km tramp is simply breath-taking and covers some of the most dramatic landscapes you’ll ever see. Passing over varied and spectacular volcanic terrain, in the presence of active volcanoes, you’ll experience some of Tongariro National Park’s special gifts. A cold mountain spring, lava flow, an active crater, steam vents, emerald coloured lakes and magnificent views combine to make this an enjoyable and memorable day experience.
