Tips from locals
Cheap and cheerful, El Patron is a popular local hangout with friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating, and non-fancy, tasty comida. If they are busy and there’s a wait, you can order to go and enjoy eating in the little adjacent park. Don’t miss the fascinating historical interpretive signs in the park, which highlight aspects of Altadena history. Bet you didn’t know that Owen Brown, son of John Brown, who led the raid on Harper’s Ferry before the Civil War, lived here! He participated in the raid and was its last survivor. A replica of his gravestone is in Triangle Park.

Neighborhood joint with good mexican food. It's tiny though so you might have to wait.
This is a small but tasty Mexican Restaurant right down the road at Altadena and Lake Ave. No liquor license, but good sangria.
