This picturesque palace was designed in 1881 in neo-Gothic style and was the venue of the last ball of Brazilian Empire on november, 1889.

Great place to visit. You have to take a boat to visit. You cannot book in advance. It is open to public from Thursday to Sunday. The tickets are bought at the Naval Museum from 11am to 3:15pm only for visits at the same day. There is a limit on the number of visitors and usually the tickets are sold out as soon as the ticket office opens. The visits are scheduled at 12:30pm, 2pm and 3:30pm and it last approximately 2 hours including the boat trip. Small island housing 1889 neo-Gothic castle. Arrive on schooner; guided tours in Portuguese (English booklet).
