Santa Elena Canyon is arguably one of the most iconic places in the Big Bend National Park. It's one of the most popular hikes, & for good reason. It's an easy hike, accessible to most people. It's 1.4 miles - out & back. The views are incredible, featuring the huge canyon & the Rio Grande River separating Mexico & the USA. *Tip* Wear water shoes. When water levels are high you may need to wade through 10-20 ft of shallow water.

A relatively easy one mile trail that takes you into the Santa Ellena Canyon. You'll find yourself on the Rio Grande River with 1500 foot cliffs on both sides of you, in between Mexico and the USA. Expect an hour or longer scenic drive to get here from the Dome.
