Across the road from Fallingwater is a perfect place to get some exercise in a peaceful natural setting. For those who want a little more, there is an 8.5 mile lightly trafficked loop trail that takes you to an overlook at the Youghiogheny River. A map is available and recommended.

Bear Run Nature Reserve is out near Ohiopyle (so, an hour and a half drive). I love it because the trails are well-marked, and it's a lot less busy than Ohiopyle. If you're looking for a more low-key, restorative hike, Bear Run is the place for you. There's ample parking, and it's right across the street from Fallingwater.

Less than 3 miles from Grandma’s Gift is Bear Run Nature Reserve, which spans over 5,000 acres. The reserve offers more than 20 miles of hiking trails that traverse diverse natural landscapes, from the solitude of dense oak and hemlock forests to the sparkling waters of Bear Run. All hiking trails begin at the same location. A personal favorite is the Peninsula Trail, a 2.5-mile loop. This steep, rocky trail along the Youghiogheny River offers two dramatic views of the river.
