An hour away by car is Crabtree Falls- the highest waterfall in Virginia! As you make your way up the trail you can reach various overlooks and watch the cascading water flow down. There are benches for you to sit and enjoy the cool freshwater breeze, but don't get distracted because the best views are at the top of the climb. There is an upper and lower parking area so if you don't want to hike the trail, but still would like to see the view, you can also park in the top area.

A great hike...beautiful scenery. Make sure you stay on the path.. and heed the warnings as there have been several deaths for those who have wanted to attempt to navigate the slippery rocks.
Beautiful hike, perfect for families and picnics. Not the easiest hike in the area but manageable to do in an afternoon.
Wear your best walking shoes - you won't be disappointed with this healthy journey on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not far from Little Switzerland (west) on the Parkway, park at the Campground to get to the Falls.
