The Collection It is the most important private collection of Irish history material in public hands, comprising over 100,000 items spanning 400 years. It includes artefacts associated with Theobald Wolfe Tone; letters from Michael Collins, Douglas Hyde, Michael Davitt and O’Donovan Rossa. Thousands more items can be seen in the Repository by appointment.
A beautiful historic building in the middle of town with a secluded landscaped garden is the ideal place to spend an hour or two. It has an extensive archive of Irish historical pieces and is open at the weekends. Even if you don't visit the museum, bring your coffee and enjoy the sunshine in the walled garden.
