A tarmac road leads up by the river to the reservoir. It’s about a 40 minute walk up and a great option if you like to avoid the mud. Follow the road straight up to get to the dam. The road is only used by reservoir staff. There are sheep but they tend to stay high on the hill. It’s a great walk for a muddy day or if you want a tarmac cycle path. Stunning views and as always the further away you get from the car park the fewer crowds even in the summer. There are loos in the car park and quite often a gastrobus. It is about a 30 minute drive from us. No phone signal. The car park is cash only unless you have a phone signal....
