Yes, penguins in Melbourne! Head to the St Kilda pier for sunset and watch as these tiny penguins make their way back home just after sunset all year around. Numbers vary depending on the season (usually you can view plenty between October and April). .

Its worth a walk down to the end of the Pier to visit the Penguins on a still evening. They are urban critters and are OK with tourists visiting. Volunteers give advice and make sure they get enough privacy. When taking photos of the penguins make sure you don't use a flash - it temporarily blinds them and the volunteers have a large vat of oil at the end of the pier that they will use to boil you alive in......... just saying...
