This is a hidden, lesser known gem if you are interested in ancient and historic Native American pueblos. Take a beautiful drive down the backside of the Sandias where you will drive among the pinons on one side and the prairie on the otherside. There are three ruins, but even if you do just one it is worth it. One ruin can be done in 1/2 a day, while all three would take you almost a full day.

The Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument consists of 3 historical sites an easy drive east of Albuquerque. They are a well preserved glimpse into what Spanish colonists were up to in 1598.
Three separate ruin sites comprise this monument. There will be a good deal of driving between sites so make this a day trip and take a picnic lunch. These sites are not frequented often so you may be the only ones at any given site due to each remote location. TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Close to the town of Mountainair. Very Historical Pueblo Mission National Park. Check out the website, there are 3 different Pueblo sites to tour. Very Old and Amazing! You can feel the History!
