See sea lions aplenty! Keep your distance though - recommended 10 metres minimum at all times.
A trip to Allan’s beach rarely disappoints those wishing to view the NZ Sea Lion. Ensure to time your trip here a couple of hours either side of high tide, as the sea lions come assure to sunbathe and rest, so high tide can make this tricky. If you head to the left and walk the short distance to the end you will inevitably see many onshore. Please remember to keep 10 metres back and if you have a dog ensure it remains on the lead and well behaved. By holding up your end of the bargain, it will ensure the sea lion continue to use Allan’s beach as a safe place to come ashore. Spoilers ruin it for everyone in the long run. Little blue penguin also come ashore here, but are shy and weary.
