Why locals recommend it
This Victorian pub in East London is a regular venue for talks run by the brilliant London Fortean Society. If you grew up with the X Files, you’ll love them! Meetings explore and explain the paranormal, the arcane, and the just plain weird. Not only for Mulder and Scully types, alien abductees, or the delusional, these talks are for anyone curious. Bring an open mind and a sense of humour. Topics are varied, from killer clowns to haunted landscapes to witchcraft. It’s all very British and eccentric—though it started in America. See their website for details.

Tips from locals
Large Victorian pub refurbished and reopened in 2012. The interior is open plan but has two distinct areas. It is comfortably furnished and often very busy. Eight hand pumps serve a range of ales from regional, micro and local breweries. Tuesday is quiz night, DJs provide entertainment Fridays and Saturday evening, and live jazz is performed on Sunday evening. Food is available all day. Children are allowed until 8pm. The smoking area is spacious.

A good local pub with decent food and a decent beer on tap selection. Cozy atmosphere, and a beer garden!
Great English pub with great food, great atmosphere. Also super family friendly and will mostly be found with families eating lunch. In the evening there is often a DJ or quiz night
