Balans Soho, No.34

Why locals recommend it
London’s original 24-hour restaurant has reopened after an extensive refurb. Bang in the middle of Soho’s gay village, right on Old Compton Street, it attracts a colourful crowd of city boys, drag queens, and nightclub workers for legendary eggs Benedict and other early morning brunch favourites, washed down with prosecco espresso martinis. If you turn up at 3 am, when everyone gets kicked out of all the gay bars and Soho House, you’ll get stuck in a massive queue. So head over at about 2:30, and settle in for some of the best people-watching anywhere in the world.

Tips from locals
Open laaaate, nice vibe, v. gay friendly. Best after-hours restaurant with respectful door-staff to keep out the riff-raff (no drunken hen-nights etc)
