Great hike to a historic site with 360-degree views of San Francisco Bay, the Peninsula, and the Pacific Ocean. This is where Spain's Portola Expedition saw San Francisco Bay for the first time. This was the European discovery of the Bay but the Indigenous people, who helped the expedition have been here for approximately 10,000 years. There are educational, interpretive signs at the site. It's a 2-mile hike with elevation gain from the Baquiano Trailhead at the end of Fassler up to the site on Sweeney Ridge, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). There are other trailheads to get to the site too.

Hike up Sneath Lane Trail to get to this monument. Go on a non-foggy day.
