My daughter's favourite walk, not mine! straight up!, where first western arrivals walked through from Lyttelton to Christchurch...
A good hike up the hill to great views of Christchurch and to Lyttleton Harbour. It's the Path the early settlers walked when they arrived from the UK 150yrs ago. Very popular walk with the locals today. Walk down to Lyttleton and back again or catch the bus through the tunnel.
This historical walk has stunning views from the beginning to the end. you can walk in either direction, i prefer to start on the city side though, after a wonder around lyttleton, catch the bus back through the tunnel or walk back over the hill again. Walking up and over the hill between the township of Lyttelton with the Harbour, over to the village of Heathcote on the city side, this walk has 360 degree views from the top, views of the Pacific, The Southern Alps and Kaikora Mountain ranges, the Lyttleton Harbour Basin, the Port Hills and the City of Christchurch all open out in front of you. BREATHTAKING.
