Tips from locals
The Plaza de la Constitución has been the nerve center of Malaga's life since the time of the reconquest, in what was called Plaza de las Cuatro Calles. It has also had other names such as Plaza Mayor until in 1812 it was renamed the Constitution. Here the City Council of Malaga has been located until 1869, the Casa del Corregidor, the jail, the Audience, the convent of Las Agustinas, including other points of tourist interest such as the Economic Society of Friends of the Country. In one of its sides, in order not to hinder the celebration of all kinds of acts, is the Fountain of Genoa. Booths of the Malaga Fair, the tribune of the authorities in Holy Week are some of the great events that this central Malaga square continues to host. In 2003, it was pedestrianized next to the main street of the city, Calle Larios, which flows into this square, one of the recommended places to begin your walk on foot through the Historic Center of Malaga.
