A short hike to a pretty waterfall. I haven't personally visited this fall yet but I hear it's nice.

High Shoals Waterfall and H.Q. Loop Trail is a 4.7 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Connelly Springs, North Carolina that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. North Shoal Falls is 14.9 miles away from Mel's mountain chalet.
