Beautifully preserved home from 1875 that is now a heritage museum located in the historic Shelton House just 2 blocks east of Main St Waynesville. The home is filled with many arifacts from the turn of the last century so a visitor can understand how life was in the late 1800's. Opened Tuesday - Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM. Nearby are the Farmer's Market and HART theater - see our notes on these places as well.

The grand Shelton House in Waynesville was built in 1875 and now houses the Museum of North Carolina Handicrafts. So your guided tour is double the fun in this Charleston-style farmhouse with a double veranda. Each room is stuffed with 18th and 19th century creations by very talented artisans and designers from across the state. It's open May through October.
