One of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. Organic food from a wonderful menu
The Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam is a botanical garden. The garden is located at the Plantage Middenlaan, in the Plantagebuurt. The garden is about 1.2 hectares and contains more than six thousand tropical and indigenous trees and plants.
This beautiful botanical garden was originally created in the 17th century in order to produce herbs for Amsterdam’s medical professionals. Today, over 6,000 tropical plants are cultivated at Hortus Botanicus, inside several multi-storied conservatories and greenhouses.
Love these Botanical Gardens! Only a tram ride away lies this wonderful Hortus Botanicus, built in 1623! it is bigger then you would expect in the middle of Amsterdam. Lovely to walk around and enjoy some nature. If you like, you can also have a lovely lunch here or glass of wine outside in the sun!
