Why locals recommend it
Behind the lace curtains and the old Betta Meats butcher sign is a local’s local. The cocktails are playful and the hip-hop playlist is on point. It’s very Newtown: friendly and not taking itself too seriously. They have delicious blended drinks and aren’t afraid to use things like Alizé in an ironic sense. Order a zombie and don’t look back. It has a lot of different types of rums, including overproof rum, with grapefruit juice, absinthe, and lime. Then it’s set on fire.

Tips from locals
This is probably my favourite bar to go to in Sydney. It's very casual, they play great music and it gets nice and busy every night! Staff are really nice and have a great knowledge about their wines, beers and spirits. Good spot to start off a night or end it!
Secret little local bar - it's a must see, and a romantic little spot! The music is good, the lighting is dim and the vibe is epic!
Super secret bar disguised by the former butchers shop exterior. They mix a great cocktail or choose from the craft beers on tap.
