About a half an hour drive, but this place is BEAUTIFUL. There is even a brewery/coffee house located inside the park!
Located between Whitehouse and Swanton, Oak Openings Preserve is the area’s largest Metropark at around 5,000 acres. It is the nesting place of bluebirds, indigo buntings, whippoorwills, Lark sparrows and many other species, as well as an excellent location to see migrating songbirds in the spring.
