Cistercian monastery set in fields next to the River Aire. Museum opposite side of road with café and free car parking.
Old ruins of monastery, free to visit on a good day (don't go there if it rains)
Completed between 1152 and 1182, it still stands to its full height, its massive structure presenting a unique example of early Cistercian architecture.
