The Kern River Audubon Preserve is a wonderful place for a stroll under the cottonwoods on a warm summer day. It's only about a 20 minute drive from Kernville and in addition to providing some excellent bird watching, is home to many different animal and plant species. At nearly 3000 acres, the preserve is a lowland riparian forest along the South Fork of the Kern. A good place for a picnic or outing for the family.
