Also known as the 'Lil Ratty' The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is a 15 in minimum gauge heritage railway in Cumbria, England. The 7-mile line runs from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station near Boot in the valley of Eskdale, in the Lake District. At Ravenglass the line ends at Ravenglass railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line.
Charming narrow-gauge train ride from Ravenglass at the coast to Dalegarth in the Esk valley. Lovely scenery, especially in the open carriages on a sunny day; great outing for children (though the return journey can seem quite long for tired littlies after a busy day). Once arrived at Dalegarth I recommend a walk to Stanley Ghyll falls, and also popping your head into charming Eskdale Mill, the last remaining working water-powered corn mill in the Lake District National Park.
