Why locals recommend it

An easy one-hour drive south of Sydney in the Sutherland Shire, this vast beauty will take your breath away. It’s the second-oldest national park in the world and offers vistas over dense Australian bushland, expansive ocean views, and plenty of spots, like Garie Beach, to have quiet time and meditate. You can also fish, bird-watch, swim, and walk. If you’d like to take a hike, I recommend the 10-km Palm Jungle Loop Track or the multiday Coast Track. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes as it can get muddy, rocky, and slippery.

The Royal National Park is one of the oldest national parks in the world. Relax on beautiful beaches and explore wonderful bushwalking trails, discovering littoral rainforest, abundant wildlife and ancient Aboriginal cultural heritage. You can hire row boats, and enjoy fishing and camping too.

2nd oldest National Park in the World. It has stunning coastal walks, which some are very easy.
