Why locals recommend it

One of my favorite cheesemaking spots to visit. You literally have to drive down an uneven farm road, then ring the bell, and somebody will come cut a hunk of cheese for you. It feels very European. And affordable. I keep telling them to raise their prices! They only make one kind of cheese, St. Jorge, named for the Portuguese island the family emigrated from in the 1970s. It’s a hard cheese with a slight tang, which happens to be perfect on a grilled cheese sandwich and served with tomato soup.

Local dairy farm solely making St. George cheese from the cows you can see happily grazing in the pasture. Around $8 a pound and delicious!

They make one thing: St. George Cheese. It's a hard, cow's milk cheese. Drive right up to the little sales office, let the charming lady know how much you'd like and she'll cut off a wedge for you.
