Shell Island is known for the abundance of shells that wash up on its shore. It's very easy to get to from St. Andrews State Park as they provide a ferry service to and from the island. Or, be adventurous, rent a pontoon boat for the day and explore the whole bay. When we did this, we were able to follow a pod of dolphins!

A completely undeveloped island in St. Andrews State Park. A great place to swim and snorkel. You can buy tickets online for the Shell Island Shuttle.

Shell island is one of my favorite spots in the world! You can only access with a boat. Its on the other side of the pass. On the bay side, all of the boats pull up in the shallows and everyone hangs out. And if you walk across the island to the beach, its quite possibly the most beautiful beach I've ever seen!

Rent a boat...head to the island! Fun for all ages, hang out in knee high water and enjoy the best of Florida.

"Pristine island wildlife sanctuary is home to many rare and endangered birds and animals that thrived along the Florida Panhandle coast before the age of human development. Piping plovers, hawks, marsh rabbits, deer, and armadillos are a few of the creatures that call the island home. Sea turtles make their way ashore here each year to nest. Ghost crabs, starfish, rays, and a variety of tropical fish can be spotted while snorkeling offshore and around the jetty. And St. Andrew Bay is home to one of the world’s highest concentrations of bottle-nosed dolphins. Lucky visitors often spot a group frolicking near the shore."
