Tips from locals
Views across Lake Washington. Eagles, geese and ducks! Bring your binoculars along, there will be song birds and turtles sunning on logs to spot as well. The east end of the park abuts the Soet Garden. Plenty of wild grassy areas for a picnic and a long trail along Union Bay for views across the water.
Great run/walk destination. Get there by going behind the stadiums along the water. Bird sanctuary and trails.
More than a park as it is a wildlife habitat right in the city. Many species of birds visit this area as it offers meadow, woods, ponds and beach. If you are looking for low energy output but want to be out in nature but don't want to drive out of the city, this is a perfect place for you. You will say hello to osprey, bald eagles, warblers, woodpeckers, finches, grebes, and a variety of ducks and innumerable other winged visitors to the area.
