Tips from locals
Udine's Castle rises up on a panoramic hill which in the past was the headquarters of noblemen, patriarchs and Venetian lieutenants. Nowadays hosts the Civic Museums. Closed on Mondays. +39 0432 271591
Museum + events + musical festivals (classical/jazz/etc) The Castle is not a real medioeval castle as many think. It's a big palace up on a hill with an exceptional view. Absolutely worth a visit.
The majestic and sumptuous Udine Castle, situated atop a hill, is rather remarkable. It is the site of the Civic Museums, comprising the Archaeological Museum, the Drawings and Prints Gallery, the Museum of Photography, the Photographic Archive and the Ancient Art Gallery, with precious paintings from the 1500s to 1800s.
