Park at Westward and take a light hike up the bluffs toward Point Dume State Beach. Great place to see miles of coastline.
At the end of this road, the Sunset restaurant sits right on the sand where you can eat appetizers, have dinner, and literally watch the sun set.
Westward Beach is my favorite beach in Malibu. three miles long with wide stretches of sand. It’s one of the best places to surf in LA. This beach is by far one of the largest and most admired beaches in LA. Westward Beach continues to be one of the cleanest and healthiest beaches due to the pristine water. The Sunset Restaurant is right on the beach and the best place in Malibu to Happy Hour. People flock to this beach for surfing, kite-boarding, snorkeling, paddle boarding and body boarding. The area of Westward is very family friendly, with more than 10 lifeguards on duty, shops, restaurants, beach volleyball games and many other fun attractions.

Westward Beach is a 1.2 mile long strip of sand with sea cliffs leading to Point Dume. Not as crowded as Zuma, a bit off the beaten track. Hike up a trail to where the original Planet of the Apes was filmed. Really beautiful with great waves; professional surfers are commonly seen during large swells. Try the Sunset Restaurant for good food with a spectacular view.
