Tips from locals
Many visitors don't know you can hike to the top of cave rock. It takes less than 20 minutes & has great views at sunset. Explore the bat cave if you can find it. Turn up Cave Rock Dr. for parking.
Drive through one of the area's natural wonders at Cave Rock, the neck of an old volcano. The area is named for the small caves above Highway 50 that we cut by the waves when Lake Tahoe was 200 FEET HIGHER during the ice ages.
I you have time to make it to cave rock. It is kind of tricky to find. It is a short walk, with climbing big rocks. It will put you right on top of lake Tahoe overlooking the whole lake.
