Why locals recommend it
Just 15 km south of the CBD, Bare Island was one of the set locations for Mission Impossible II and many people don’t know about it. The island is connected to the mainland by a long bridge, which I love taking photos underneath of for a unique perspective. A historic fort dominates the island, and the grassy space is an extremely popular backdrop for wedding photos. You’ll be in the suburb of La Perouse, very near Sydney Airport, so if you like plane-spotting, it’s the ultimate place to photograph aircraft coming in to land. The area’s also popular for scuba diving, so venture underwater for great aquatic shots of puffer fish, squid, and sea dragons.

With 270 degrees of coastal vision, the sound of the waves hitting the sandstone is a note in the serenity. Enjoy the sun and the sea. It is a romantic place for a couple to walk slowly. Take the bus N94 for about an hour from the city.
