Suomenlinna – Nature with cultural heritage Take a trip to the string of islands that make up Helsinki’s famous sea fortress for an immersive historical experience that still promises plenty of nature. Head to the western and southern ends of the Susisaari island where miniature paradises have formed between boulders and in the tiny coves. Many migratory birds stop to graze or nest at Suomenlinna, such as white-fronted geese and swans. Getting there is easy – you can use a public transport ticket and take the municipal ferry from the Market Square.

A beautiful and historical island in Helsinki. Must-see during summertime and one of our favorite places in Helsinki. We also got married in Suomenlinna church and had wedding celebrations in one of the historic buildings on the island. <3 Take HSL public transportation ferry, which go to the island and back once every 20 minutes. You may also experience some awesome misty moments during fall when sea water is warmer than the air. Go to lunch , dinner or drinks in Cafe Bar Valimo.

Suomenlinna is an inhabited sea fortress built on eight islands about 4 km southeast of the city center of Helsinki. Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is popular with tourists and locals, who enjoy it as a picturesque picnic site.
An island in Helsinki city center with historical buildings, great restaurants and cafes! The scenery is beautiful, spend a day in Suomenlinna!
Take the city/public ferry (same cost as any bus/metro) from far end of Helsinki market place (look where the locals go) to the great fortress island, Suomenlinna. Pick up a picnic ingredients from the market place merchants, don't forget fresh peas on the pod, and head over for a nice walk, swim or picnic with a view.
