Tips from locals
Stretch your legs by the river with a walk down to the millennium bridge. This leads to other walking routes or can loop back into the city centre.
A key route across the river (especially to the races), and the place to head for when you're walking the dog.
For a medium range walk a favourite is along the riverside New Walk, laid out as a promenade in the eighteenth century to the Millennium Bridge, and back into the city along Terry Avenue, passing Rowntrees Park, a large ornamental and play park with lake, given to the City by the Rowntree family in memory of Rowntree workers killed in the Great War. Good playground for children, and a cafe.
