Tips from locals
Point Betsie is one of the most iconic and recognizable lighthouses in the state of Michigan. Just a short drive from our cottage, this architectural institution is a must see no matter how old you are!
Take the tour and climb the lighthouse tower -- you can see forever. Well worth it. Watch the lifesaving video to get an appreciation for maritime history, risk and valor. Plan on spending about 1.5 hours there.
Take a tour of the Lighthouse. If you are visiting in the winter the ice bergs and ice balls are a great view as well. Special place for a sunset. This is a great beach to walk the dog and find Petoskey stones. This is not a popular swimming beach because the lake is usually rougher and colder at this point.
It's possible to hike the beach to here from Frankfort (4-miles), but it's also a nice excursion to check-out the rocky beach and lighthouse.
