The biggest urban park in the country. There are miles and miles of trails, as well as open space to picnic.

Fairmount Park is the largest municipal park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the historic name for a group of parks located throughout the city. It is HUGE, depending on what you would like to experience, you will most likely find it here. The park is a wonderful way to spend the day in Philadelphia. If you can find your way to the area called "The Plateau", you will see one of the most famous panoramic views of the city!

paved 11 mile trail that leads through the city and ends at the Art Museum steps. Good for walking, hiking in the hills, or bike riding. Shaded by trees, very comfortable

If you're visiting Philly and enjoy exercising, it's mandatory to run up the Art Museum steps a la Rocky Balboa. But for a longer jog, take the nearby trail through Fairmount Park which runs along the Schuylkill River. You can ride a bike on the trail too (grab a Indego bike share), and there are plenty of spots for picnicking, watching university sculls on the water near Boathouse Row, or even fishing.

Fairmount Park is the largest city park in the world. It sprawls throughout the city and contains great public art, hiking, running and biking trails, museums, zoos and more. It's one of a kind. I love going for runs along the river early in the morning.
