yea, i know, sounds weird, eh, send somebody to the local DUMP? YES, because, the 'June 27th Flow' in 2014 did not TOUCH the recently built dump/transfer station. You can actually see the cooled lava that oozed thru the chain link fence, dribbled down the embankment, kissed the pavement, in a few spots, THEN STOPPED! If you continue down the road, which takes you back to Pahoa Town, you will be traveling thru the lava flow, keep your eyes open~

You can see where the last major above-ground lava flow stopped, right before flowing over the Pahoa dump

The best place to see the most recent lava flow as it approached Pahoa.

This was a lava viewing station for a few months in late 2014. It has reopened as a solid waste facility (aka da rubbish dump) on 3/1/15, but you can still see and touch the hardened lava that's buried Apa'a St.
