Tips from locals
Kanaka Creek Park is a long skinny piece of green space that follows Kanaka Creek with walking trails, waterfalls, coastal rainforest and an abundance of nature and beautiful scenery.
The “Kanaka Creek Regional Park Fraser Riverfront” (on River Rd west of Lougheed Highway) has a beautiful long walkway along the bank of the Fraser River, a pedestrian bridge, and plaques explaining the history of the sawmills in the area.
The park starts up in the forest above Maple Ridge and follows Kanaka Creek out to the Fraser River. It passes through some amazing canyons and waterfalls. There is a fish fence and fish hatchery and amazing learning centre as well. Great park for hiking, learning, a picnic, or a leisurely walk along the riverfront.
