Enchanting riverside park with expanses of luscious green among grand old trees, fabulous WPA stone structures and a lake. A circular wall around a stone tower was Monkey Island in mid-century. We loved to watch monkeys through the high fence across the mote now gone. There are plenty of picnic table shelters, a new splash pad, DISC GOLF COURSE, TENNIS COURTS, modern playground, an old stone bridge and amphitheater. It’s one of my all-time favorite city parks. Be sure to visit the lakeside patio with William Allen White’s bust and editorial. In 1926-7 the White family gave 52 acres to the city of Emporia in Mary’s memory, because like Peter Pan, Mary didn't want to grow up.

When people ask me which disc golf course they should play when visiting Emporia I tell them Peter Pan Park. It is a great mix of wooded and open holes.
