We love this hike! You can hike the bay or head to the ocean. It’s a beautiful area.
Great hike out the Bay Ocean spit with views of the Tillamook Bay and you can walk out over dunes to Cape Meares beach.
The Tillamook Spit: Unusual flat loop hike on a narrow, yet hilly peninsula separating the Tillamook Bay and the Pacific Ocean. There once was a resort here; hotel, a dance hall, even a glass enclosed swimming pool. And over a few wild winters in the 1900s the ocean washed it all away. Today there are pines, blueberries, mushrooms, herons and egrets and a long strand of beach with sand dunes. Start walking north along the water, to the tip of the land, around to the rock jetty that protects the entrance to the bay, turn south, toward the sun and follow the foamy water’s edge back to your car.

Take the gravel road down the levy. One side is the Bay, the other Cape Meares Lake. At the end, a short hike to a gorgeous beach with a great view of the Pacific ocean. Nature, birds, galore. Take deep breaths, walk around or sit, and enjoy!
