Kamay Botany Bay National Park is a great place to explore the history of the First Fleet landing and ancient indigenous history. It is $8 for all day parking or you can enter the park on foot/ cycle for no fee. There is an information centre, old farmstead and a range of walks. Although most of the walks are easy, please note that the spectacular Bailey walk can be more challenging. It is on exposed rocky cliff and is 8km return. Whale Watching is between June and October. Humpbacks, minkes, southern right whales and pygmy killer whales - not to mention plenty of dolphins - can be seen from the purpose built platform at Cape Solander. Bate Bay, Cronulla was once locally known as Whale Bay, due to the large number of whales that congregated in the bay.
