Walk past the many fashionable shops on Josui street and you will find the Fukuoka City Zoological Garden, which is a part of Minami Park. The zoo is a half century old and is now undergoing new renovations set to take 20 years. The zoo is divided into 5 corners. See endangered species such as gorillas and Oryx leucoryxs, and Raggiana Bird of Paradise, which are rare to see anywhere else in Japan, among the other 120 species. In the botanical garden, there are 2600 kinds of plants including dove trees. The panoramic view of Fukuoka city from the Ferris wheel is a great feature of the garden as well.
