Take a short tour of the school founded by Bishop William of Wykeham in 1382 to replenish the clerics lost to the Plague. It consistently ranks as one of the best schools in the World - and now educates girls too. The school buildings take up a large part of St Cross south of the Cathedral Kings Gate arch (used for film sets such a Les Miserables)

Book a tour as then you can access some of the inner parts of the building. Look out for the boys wearing gowns who are the scholars that William of Wykeham originally wanted to be given 'free' education in order to join the church.
